In 2002, the Brentwood Cool Springs Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
hosted a black-tie gala to raise money
- to fund scholarships for the Youth Leadership Brentwood program
- to fund educational grants for Williamson County schools
- and to present a spectacular evening for the citizens of the Brentwood and Cool
Springs communities
The event became known simply as The Gala. Because of the star logo designed by DJ
Smith to symbolize our leaders of tomorrow, the name was changed to The STAR Gala
in 2007. The event is now hosted by the BCS Chamber Foundation.
Over the past 6 years, the event has raised more than $250,000 to fund educational
programs in science, literature, music, art and history and scholarships awarded to
outstanding high school seniors. The BCS Foundation is extremely proud of these
accomplishments and strives to achieve greater results in the future.
The BCS Foundation acknowledges the tremendous support of local businesses,
many that have sponsored The STAR Gala for many years. One special friend,
BancorpSouth, has been presenting sponsor for the past five years. The STAR Gala hosts
a Patrons Party at fabulous homes and venues in the area to thank sponsors for their
contributions and commitment to the community.
Each years chairperson brings a unique approach to The STAR Gala. Guests have enjoyed A Night Under the Stars dancing to the music of the Kadillacs. They experienced An Ultraviolet Evening among a swirl of mist and test tubes with Chair Linda Hirsch. Once Upon a Time Chair Paula Cirulli introduced guests to a knight in shining armor riding on a silver horse. They grooved with Chairs Mark and Holly Whaley and their good friends Sonny and Cher at The Beat Goes On. Chair Sidney Powers painted an unforgettable picture of A Starry, Starry Night while Chair Lynda Stone took guests back in time to The Splendor of the South.
